Entire kindergarten class asked to self-isolate after student tests positive for COVID-19
The provincial government reported 21 positive cases of COVID-19 in Ontario schools on Thursday.
That includes a student at the St. Anne Catholic Elementary School in Cambridge.
The Waterloo Catholic District School Board first announced the case on Wednesday night.
Region of Waterloo Public Health confirmed it is monitoring the situation closely.
"We have investigated and identified all high risk contacts and will be following up with them individually to provide further guidance. In this case, an entire class as well as certain contacts on the school bus have been asked to self-isolate and get tested," said a spokesperson in an e-mail statement.
Public Health officials will continue to work with the school board to ensure appropriate infection prevention and control practices are in place.
The case at St. Anne's was the second in Waterloo Region for the 2020/2021 school year.
It was announced on September 6 that a staff member at Edna Staebler Public School in Waterloo contracted the virus.
