911 is for emergencies only, not COVID-19 concerns: police

Regional police are asking people to direct their questions and concerns around COVID-19 to Public Health.

Constable Ashley Dietrich with Waterloo Regional Police is reminding people that 911 is for emergencies only.

A post to their Twitter account even said “Every call to 9-1-1 that is not for an emergency means that someone else who needs help has to wait.”

“Anything related to COVID, whether it be businesses in non-compliance or them thinking they have the virus, should be directed to Public Health,” she said.

A factsheet on how the police service is adapting operations during the pandemic can be found here.

Information on COVID-19 can be found on the Region of Waterloo website and the Ontario website.
