Traplin, John "Jack":
Passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019 at The Village of Winston Park at the age of 95. Beloved husband of the late Rosemary (nee Beninger) (2013) for 62 years. Loving father of Paul (LeeAnne), Anne Chelli, Mark (Pat), John and Jane Sherk. Grandpa to Thomas (Kelly-Ann), Rebecca (Eddie), Chad, Tina, Joshua, Jessica (Chris), Sarah, David, Benjamin and the late Jacob and great-Grandpa to 11.
Jack was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, past Grand Knight of Kitchener Council 1504 and first manager of The Columbus Centre when it opened in 1967. He was a sportsman extraordinaire playing seniors hockey until he was 85, scratch golfer and many others. Jack joined the Canadian Forces, 100th Battery, in 1939 at the age of 16. He returned from WWII in 1945 and met and married the love of his life, Rosemary. Together, they were blessed with five children.
Jack's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Parish prayers at 7 p.m. Prayers will be offered in the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2019 followed by a procession to St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 56 Duke St. W., Kitchener for the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Fr. George Nowak C.R. celebrating. Interment at Woodland Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Mary's R.C. Church Building Fund would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
